9.  Knives  (U)

The knife is an aimed weapon. Both knife strikes will strike at the location of the crosshairs.

Aimed knifeplay

A knife will, however, hit anything nearby, if there is no target actually in the crosshairs. As such, an aimed knife stroke will permit you to achieve a deliberate headshot, but if you miss, your knife will still hit the target.

When a player hits fire with the knife, the blow occurs instantly, prior to the actual knife animation. This is true for both knife strokes.

The primary knife stroke has a much longer range than the secondary knife stroke and also has a wierd extension of range as can be seen in the screen capture below left. The secondary knife stroke typically inflicts three times as much damage, however.

These results were achieved by lining the player up with the mirror so that the mirror is exactly edge on, and then holding down the knife fire button until no more glass panes were smashed by the knife. At no point did the player move.
